How does Yahoo Automatic Bidding work?
If you place a bid higher than the starting price when no one else has joined the auction, you will be the highest bidder. The Yahoo system will continue to bid on your behalf up to your maximum bid when the other bidders are competing against you for the item.
This means that you might win an auction for less than your maximum bid.
For example, if the starting price is 300 yen and you place a bid at 1,000 yen, you will win the item for 300 yen if no one else places a bid. If someone else places a bid at 400 yen, the Yahoo system will raise your bid to 500 yen automatically.
You can be outbid if someone else enters a higher maximum bid than yours.
In this case, you can raise your bid price until the auction ends.
